Heath Ledger was awarded a posthumous Golden Globe last night.

The actor, who passed away last year, was honoured for his supporting role in The Dark Knight.

‘All of us who worked with Heath on The Dark Knight accept this with an awful mixture of sadness but incredible pride,’ said director Chris Nolan.

‘For any of us lucky enough to have worked with him, and I think for any of us lucky enough to have enjoyed his performances, he will be eternally missed, but he will never be forgotten.’

Heath, who played The Joker in the hit Batman film, beat Tom Cruise, Robert Downey Jr, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Ralph Fiennes to bag the prize.

The Dark Knight was Heath’s last complete film before his accidental overdose of prescription drugs in January 2008.
