Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law arrested over family killings

William Balfour is taken into police custody

Jennifer Hudson’s estranged brother-in-law William Balfour has been arrested in connection with the deaths of her mum, brother and nephew.

The 27-year-old has been released to detectives and is awaiting formal charges, according to Chicago police spokeswoman Monique Bond.

William, who is separated from his wife Julia, was originally questioned on the day Darnell, 57, and Jason, 29, were killed at their home in Chicago last month.

His seven-year-old step-son Julian King was later found dead in an abandoned car suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

William was arrested at an Illinois state prison where he was being held on a parole violation.
