Beyonce Knowles is the first act confirmed to perform at this year’s MTV Europe Music Awards.
The singer, 27, whose last record B'Day is nominated in the Ultimate Urban category, will premiere tracks from her forthcoming album.
‘Beyonce will wow the audience with what promises to be a show-stopping performance,’ says Richard Godfrey, senior vice president of MTV.
‘I am confident that when we reveal the final acts to perform, the bill will live up to our promise that the MTV Europe Music Awards will absolutely be the best gig in Europe this year.’
Insiders have also tipped Britney Spears, 26, to make a surprise appearance at the event in Liverpool.
Her last record Blackout is in the running for Album Of The Year and she is on the shortlist for the Best Act Ever award.
Britney will also take on Amy Winehouse, 24, Leona Lewis, 23, Coldplay and Rihanna, 20, for Act Of 2008.
Duffy, 24, and Coldplay also have 3 nominations, including Album Of The Year.
