Presenter says she isn't ashamed of having procedure

Fern Britton has come clean about her secret surgery to help her loose weight.
The TV star previously insisted that her new figure was down to exercise and healthy eating.
Whilst presenting This Morning, Fern admits having the procedure over 2 years ago and says that she's not ashamed of her decision.

As a person who lost over six stone by healthy eating and exercise and kept it off for over two years, I feel that Fern was right to do what she had to do to loose her weight . I think she probably inspired many people to address there own weight problems and that has to be a good thing, but imagine the pressure of the public eye watching her to see if she would succeed or fail if she had announced how she had chosen to loose weight. I now think she should treat herself to a tummy tuck and that she looks better than Maddona.
Hi There was no need for fern to go to such lengths to loose wet.I have lost over 4 stone since March this year. I did think of a gastric band but thought I would try cutting down instead. And its worked! Too many people have surgery.
i weighed 24 stone back in 2004, over 2 years i lost 7 and a half stone by healthy eating and exericising but just could not lose any more. i kept off the weight for another year trying to lose more but it just would not come off! just like Fern had a band fitted in 2007, i didnt feel the need to tell any one or have people past jugment over what i have had done! it is not easy having this op done and i take my hat off to any one who has it done..... good on you Fern and dont let any one tell you different.
Fern has misled the public and her fans, how vain of her to think that there wouldn't be reaction to this news. Celebrities are too keen to think they should be beyond public interest. In this clip she sounds like a weasling politician stating she was careful about what she was saying about her weight loss - yes she ate less to eat less that's because it was physically impossible for her to. Incidentally - I presume we can now be assured she has had the band removed as she is so keen to indulge in cake and fish and chips......
i agree completly with fern!!! n back her 100% its her business what she does with life and feel no one should judge her, my mother struggled for years with weight problems and went and had a gastric bypass, and i myself is thinking about having the band i have tried eberything possible to lose weight and nothering i working.
