Sharon Stone's films have been blacklisted by cinema chain in China following her comments on the country's recent devastating earthquake.

At the Cannes Film Festival last week, the actress claimed the natural disaster was 'karma' for China’s poor treatment of Tibetans.

'I'm not happy about the way the Chinese are treating the Tibetans because I don't think anyone should be unkind to anyone else,' she said.

'Then this earthquake happened and I thought: "Is that karma?" When you're not nice, that's when the bad things happen to you.'

Ng See-Yuen, founder of the UME Cineplex chain, says his theatres will not screen any of her movies in future.

The earthquake struck south-west China on 12 May, leaving 68,109 people dead, reports the BBC.
