Uma Thurman's ex Ethan Hawke expecting a baby with former nanny

Actor said to be thrilled by news

Ethan Hawke's girlfriend Ryan Shawhughes is pregnant with their first child.

The actor-author has been dating the former nanny of his children with Uma Thurman - Maya, 9, and Levon, 5 - for 2 years.

His rep Mara Buxbaum has confirmed that they are both 'thrilled'.

Ethan and Uma, both 37, split in 2004 after 7 years of marriage but continue to live in the same neighbourhood in New York.

The Gattaca star shares parental duties with his ex and says that his kids give him the greatest pleasure in life.

'It's the only role that, if I fail, I will consider a failure,' he admits.
