David Beckham: Tom Cruise doesn't shove Scientology down our throats

Becks denies Tom and Kate have tried to convert him and Posh

David Beckham has spoken out for the first time about pal Tom Cruise’s belief in Scientology – and insists he respects the bizarre religion.

Becks denies that the Hollywood actor, 45, and wife Katie Holmes, 28, have tried to convert him or wife Victoria, 33.

‘We respect their religion,’ he says. ‘We respect everything they do and believe in.

‘But they have never turned around to us and said, “You have to be a part of this”, because that's not what they're about. It's never been about that.

‘There's been nothing shoved down our throats because friends don't do things like that. They are amazing people who are just so positive about life and they have been great to us.’

Becks, 32, also reveals he has another A-list buddy - Jennifer Lopez's husband Marc Anthony.

‘We talk about all sorts,’ he tells Arena. 'What Jennifer's up to, what Victoria's up to. I speak to him at least three or four times a week.’
