Hagrid gets mobbed by monks

Buddhist monks are fans of Harry Potter star Robbie Coltrane

Film star Robbie Coltrane – aka Harry Potter character Hagrid - has been mobbed by Buddhist monks.

The actor, 57, visited a monastery for an ITV series and was expecting to enjoy the calm, spiritual atmosphere.

Instead, when he popped into the Samye Ling monastery in Eskdalemuir, Dumfriesshire, he was surrounded by monks clamouring for his autograph.

‘I got asked for more Potter autographs here than anywhere else,’ he tells the Daily Record.

‘I thought monks were meant to be above that sort of thing.’
