Gary Barlow and Cheryl Cole had to halt filming of the judges' houses stage of The X Factor when a young couple were found getting frisky in nearby bushes.
Producers thought paparazzi were taking pictures of Cheryl and Gary after they saw movement in the shrubbery at Northamptonshire estate Boughton House - but when security men rushed over they found a very different scene.
'Security expected some bloke with a camera and were stunned when it turned out to be two young lovers in their 20s,' a source tells The Sun.
'The pair looked as shocked at our security staff and quickly stopped what they were doing and pulled their clothes back on.
'They made their excuses and left. It seems they'd been having a picnic and got carried away.'
It was revealed on Saturday that Cheryl, 29, would be returning to The X Factor to help Gary Barlow,
41, select his final acts.
Simon Cowell welcomed Cheryl back to the series on Twitter, but she insists he wasn't the one who talked her into making an appearance.
'I saw Simon's Tweet. I'm not doing this for him,' she says. 'I am doing this for Gary as he's my friend and he asked me to do it.'
