Amy Winehouse spoke about her desire to touch people with her music in a poignant interview with Jonathan Ross in March 2004.
The singer was a confident 20-year-old, promoting her debut album Frank.
'I just wanted to write music that was emotional, that people would want to listen to and connect with,' said Amy.
In the telling interview she talks about how her struggles with love and relationships inspired her songwriting.
'I always said I never wanted to write about love, but then I went and did that anyway,' she told Jonathan Ross.
'I've got like 7 or 8 songs that are about this guy...
'I was very frustrated at the way things turned out for me and him, as he was.
'And you know when you're quite emotionally tied into someone it's never that simple.'
Comedian Jonathan, 50, Tweeted on Sunday: 'Just heard about poor Amy Winehouse. I liked her very much. It's such a sad thing. Poor girl.'
