Cheryl Cole is reported to be 'furious' about being dumped from the US X Factor and being replaced by Nicole Scherzinger.

Simon Cowell's believed to have offered her a place as a judge on the UK X Factor panel with Gary Barlow instead.

Auditions start next week but Cheryl feels so humiliated, she's not sure she's prepared to accept.

Cheryl's is heading home to the UK but her reps won't comment on her 'dumping' or her whereabouts.

'Cheryl is furious. This is another slap in the face. She moved to America in full public glare - and now she's being asked to come back to do the UK again,' a source tells the Daily Mail.

'She feels hurt and let down.'

Cheryl, 27, is reported to have found out her fate three days ago.

'Simon told her in person at his house that it wasn't working and that he was under so much pressure to release her,' an insider tells The Sun.

American audiences have been struggling to understand Cheryl's Newcastle accent.

The feisty Geordie's lack of chemistry with fellow judge Paula Abdul, 48, has also been blamed for her exit from the show - and her own homesickness.

Celebrity pals have been sending Cheryl messages of support and JLS are sure she'll be fine.

'She's a great girl,' says Aston Merrygold. 'She'll bounce back.'

Representatives for Cheryl and The X Factor have yet to comment.
