Cheryl and Ashley Cole have been married for three years

Cheryl Cole admits she remains head-over-heels in love with her husband Ashley.

The couple met in 2004 and tied the knot two years later.

‘I still get the butterflies,' says The X Factor judge. ‘Even when he rings the phone I get that...that thing.'

But Cheryl, 26, says she and Ashley, 28, have worked hard on their relationship.

‘Marriages are not rose-petalled paths that you skip down,' she tells Elle. 'They were never intended to be.

‘It's not supposed to be easy, it's not supposed to be perfect. But you make a commitment to someone and there's a good reason why...

‘That's why it's called a fairy tale, isn't it? It's not real. Love is real and the feelings of love are real...

'I want to experience the bad to know what the good is.'
