Madonna was keen to duet with Michael Jackson during his planned comeback tour.
The King Of Pop had been due to start his 50-date O2 residency on 13 July.
‘A month ago Madonna told me she wanted to do a surprise performance at one of Michael Jackson's UK shows,’ Guy Oseary writes on Twitter.
Michael, 50, died from a suspected heart attack at UCLA medical centre in LA yesterday.
He had known Madonna, also 50, for over two decades. In 1991, the pair even sparked speculation of a romance when they turned up to the Oscars together.
‘I can't stop crying over the sad news,’ says Madonna. ‘I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever!
‘My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless.’
