Tess Daly has spoken out in support of Strictly Come Dancing co-presenter Bruce Forsyth.
The 80-year-old star has recently faced claims that he's too old for live television, with critics saying the current series of the hit BBC1 show should be his last. But Tess says that's rubbish.
‘Brucie is brilliant,’ she tells Weekend. ‘I actually thinks it’s very disrespectful to talk a man out of a job that he's good at, that he loves.
‘He is a legend in his own right, and there should be respect for that.’
Tess, 37, says that Bruce has become a father figure to her since her dad Viv died 5 years ago.
‘He has seen me through every stage in my life recently,’ she says. ‘I love him to bits.
‘Bruce has always been really supportive and he’s a truly lovely, generous bloke.’
