Amy Winehouse’s gaunt and dishevelled appearance has been so shocking in recent months that many have feared she hasn’t long to live.
But this week the successful singer emerged from hospital looking healthier than she has in months.
She was admitted to The London Clinic on 25 October, but was discharged last Thursday, leaving on the arm of her protective dad Mitch, and we’re pleased to say Amy looks better than we’ve seen her in ages.
Her blotchy skin seems to have cleared up and, best of all, she’s finally put a few pounds on to her dangerously skinny frame.
It was thought that the singer was back in rehab last week, but her spokesman said she went into the private clinic to be treated for a chest infection.
Amy, 25, also had scans to check that the lung disease emphysema, which struck her down in June, hadn’t returned.
‘She’s been in the private hospital, where she was forced to have some decent food and keep to a routine,’ a friend tells Now. ‘Tests came back fine, which was a relief for everyone as emphysema is a horrible disease to have, especially in someone so young.
‘Amy knows she needs to take care of herself, even if it doesn’t always appear that way. In June, she was told by doctors that continuing to smoke drugs could be the death of her, so she knows that lifestyle has to stop.’
Now husband Blake Fielder-Civil, 26, has been released from prison straight into rehab, let's see if the pair can both change their ways for good....
