Football icon joins Hollywood stars to celebrate new season of puppet show

David Beckham stars alongside Jessica Alba and Jack Black in Sesame Street

David Beckham is now part of children's TV history after his appearance on Sesame Street.

The football icon, 33, lived out his childhood fantasy by appearing on the first episode of the show's 39th season.

‘David has always been a huge fan. When he was a kid he watched it and knew all the characters,’ a source tells The Mirror. ‘He was more than happy to go on.’

In the clip David teaches The Muppets how to spell the word persistent.

Also featured on the episode is Jessica Alba, Jack Black, Kim Cattrall, Randy Jackson, Heidi Klum, LL Cool J and Jenny McCarthy.
