Fashion Queen Kate Middleton wears dove-print Orla Kiely dress for Royal charity visit without Prince William

Kate Middleton's husband Prince William is away with the RAF for 6 weeks

Kate Middleton wrapped up warm in a thick brown Orla Kiely dove-print dress as she made her first public engagement as Royal patron of The Art Room earlier today.

The Duchess of Cambridge, who made the trip to Oxford alone as husband Prince William, 29, is away in the Falklands, teamed her now sold-out winter frock with brown tights and suede boots.

Kate, 30, visited a primary school supported by the charity, which aims to increase confidence in disadvantaged children. 

She was greeted by a crowd of fans and handed flowers on her walkabout.

'We are all very excited now about The Duchess's visit tomorrow. It is going to be a great day!' The Art Room Tweeted yesterday.
