Just before she announced her pregnancy to the world, Dannii Minogue texted her X Factor protégé Stacey Solomon.

Speaking at the gala night of Legally Blonde: The Musical last night, an excited Stacey, 20, told Now's Beth: 'Dannii texted me this morning, it's so exciting.

'I used to see her with my son Zac and I thought she would make a great mother, but I didn't say anything.

'It's the best thing that could have happened to her.

'Can you imagine how good-looking that baby is going to be, with Dannii and Kris as parents?'

Dannii, 38, confirmed rumours she is expecting a child with former rugby player Kris Smith on on Twitter yesterday.

'Woo hoo - I'm gonna be a mummy!' she posted. 

The baby is due in July, which means Dannii would be available for the next series of X Factor - if Simon Cowell decides to take on her on as a judge for another year.
