Dannii Minogue wins The X Factor style war

With this year's best outfits, Dannii's your fashion winner

Dannii Minogue outshone Cheryl Cole

The votes are in and have been counted. The style winner of The X Factor 2009, voted by Now Online readers is... Miss Dannii Minogue.

Dannii's act Stacey Solomon may have lost out to Cheryl Cole's Joe McElderry, but you've crowned Dannii your style champion with a landslide win over the Geordie lass in Now's poll.

63% of Now voters preferred Dannii's style whereas only 37% chose Cheryl.

Throughout the competition the two female judges have faced a mixture of criticism and praise for their style performances each weekend.

From week to week Cheryl has opted for brave designs from a variety of designers, such as her controversial David Koma 'bin lid' dress and the red Atelier Versace dress.

Meanwhile Dannii's pretty much pulled it out of the bag each week, from maxi to minidresses, often opting for her favourite Australian designers J'Aton Couture and Ralph & Russo. Dannii also gained style votes for her ever-changing hairstyles, as opposed to Cheryl's WAG-style blow-dry.

From the beginning of this year's X Factor auditions, Cheryl appeared to be receiving everyone's vote of approval. But Dannii was closely coming up the outside, throwing in a cheeky shorts and strappy top combination, along with a classy white one-shoulder dress at the auditions back in June.

But it wasn't until the live shows that Dannii began to steal the votes from Cheryl in her floor-sweeping frocks and the occasional sexy minidress.

With stylists on hand, Cheryl's look began to look a bit 'try-hard', while Dannii seemed to effortlessly pull her look together on her own - usually with an edgy hairdo, statement earrings and a floor-sweeping gown.

In a recent interview Dannii said: 'I know Cheryl has two stylists and I have none. I put a lot of work into it. I style myself. I choose all my outfits.'

This doesn't mean that Cheryl shouldn't receive credit for her efforts - many of her outfits won approval from all the fashionista X Factor fans.

One of our favourite Cheryl looks has to be the bold shouldered Julien Macdonald fish-scale silver dress she wore on Week 3. But the same week Dannii stole our hearts in a J'Aton Couture embellished nude number.

Cheryl's style may be youthful and sexy, but Dannii was the one who blew us away with a confident, established style that shone through clearly each week.
