Katy Perry and Russell Brand got together in September

Katy Perry and her fiancé Russell Brand marked their engagement by throwing a huge do.

The couple were joined by some 50 friends and family at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills.

'They had a lovely soiree,' a source tells People. 

Katy, 25, and Russell, 34, had the venue decorated with candles and red roses.

And guests were treated to a personalised white chocolate cake for dessert. 

The comedian proposed in India on New Year's Eve.

The Cartier ring features a two-carat rock embedded on a thick gold band.
