Nicole Richie has gone for a darker look

Nicole Richie has ditched her blonde locks.

The Simple Life star, 28, has dyed her hair brunette.

Nicole debuted her new look while promoting her House of Harlow jewellery collection over the weekend in California.

'I did it about a week-and-a-half ago,' she tells Us Weekly. 'I change my hair colour all the time.

'I hadn't done it in a few years. With the babies, I just really hadn't had time. I was just ready and sick of being blonde! I was ready for a change!'

Nicole, who has 2 children with partner Joel Madden, is thrilled with the results. 

'I feel smarter already,' she wrote on her Twitter.
