David Tennant didn’t find it easy to make the new Doctor Who special – because he’d had time off.
The actor took nine months’ leave from the cult BBC show, and starred on the stage in Hamlet.
‘At the read-through for Planet Of The Dead, I found it quite tricky to get into the mindset,’ explains David, 37.
‘I actually felt that I couldn’t quite remember the Doctor’s voice.’
But David, who’ll be replaced as the Time Lord by Matt Smith, 26, at the end of the year, soon got back into it.
‘Getting on set, putting on the costume and being surrounded by everyone, is like slipping back into something very familiar,’ he tells Doctor Who magazine. ‘It’s like coming home.’
The Planet Of The Dead will air on BBC1 on 11 April.
