Comedian pokes fun at sci-fi epic

Ben Stiller looked almost unrecognisable in his make-up

Ben Stiller dressed up as an alien character from hit movie Avatar at last night's Oscar ceremony.

The comedian took to the stage as a blue Na'vi - complete with braided hair, pointy ears and a fake tail - to present the Academy Award for Best Make-Up.

‘The ironic thing is, Avatar isn't even nominated,' he said.

Ben, 44, even mimicked the fictitious Na'vi language and, at one point, fooled around with a fishing rod that got hooked onto his tail.

‘After I announce the winner, I will try to stand as far away from them as possible so as not to demean their moment of triumph,' he said.

Cameras showed Avatar director James Cameron laughing during the skit.
