Singer didn't make the school choir

Shakira recorded her first album at 14

Shakira admits her vocals aren't everyone's cup of tea.

The singer, 32, says she used to sound a bit like an animal.

‘I never made it to the school choir because the music teacher didn't like my voice,' she tells AbsoluteNow.com.

‘I was pretty sad. But he was probably right. I did have a voice a bit like a goat.

'But my dad told me to never give up and keep going and it's paid off.'
