Pete Burns is expected to receive £1 million in damages from the Harley Street plastic surgeon who gave him a trout pout.
The Dead Or Alive frontman, 49, said he was so depressed after the op that he considered killing himself. His lips were so badly swollen and blistered that he couldn't eat, drink or speak properly for months.
Lawyers for Dr Maurizio Viel – who treated him with lip filler injections between 2000 and 2004 – have admitted liability on his behalf, opening the way for the payout.
Pete has undergone more than 100 operations to correct the damage to his lips.
‘It has taken away my life and my career,’ he tells the Mail On Sunday. ‘I saw doctors in London who said the only option was to amputate my lips. I was suicidal.’
The exact value of Pete’s claim will be decided at a High Court hearing in March.
Reps for Dr Maurizio declined to comment.
