Nicollette Sheridan could be back next season as Edie Britt

Nicollette Sheridan’s character in Desperate Housewives has been written out of the show.

Edie Britt packed up her belongings and left Wisteria Lane in an episode aired on Sunday in the States.

The bitchy housewife is forced to move after she falls out with the rest of the female residents after blackmailing Bree, played by Marcia Cross, 46.

Show creator Marc Cherry, 46, has confirmed that Edie has left, saying ‘she won’t be back for a few years'.

But US sources say Nicollette, 44, will be back sooner than we think.

It’s rumoured that the next series of Desperate Housewives will pick up several years in the future, so that Edie could be back on screen later this year.
