Katherine Jenkins has revealed that a mystery man tried to rape her when she was a 19-year-old student.
The opera diva, now 27, was walking home alone in Paddington, west London, after a night out when the stranger jumped her.
‘Without saying a word, he grabbed me by my left arm and began dragging me down a gangway that led to a pitch-black driveway,’ she writes in her autobiography. ‘I was absolutely terrified’.
Although she managed to escape initially, the stranger chased her and punched her to the floor.
‘I just lay on the ground in a ball and endured him kicking me in a fruitless attempt to open me up,’ she writes.
When he realised he wasn’t going to get what he wanted, the man demanded Katherine’s purse and ran off.
The attacker – who she describes as respectable and white – was never caught.
