Top snipper Luke Hersheson predicts pony tails will gallop their way on to the spring 07 must-have hair list

Loved by the likes of Kylie Minogue, Luke Hersheson boasts big names such as Missoni and Aquascutum on his CV. For spring, he’s heralding the reincarnation of the ponytail.

‘A polished ponytail makes a strong statement with very little effort – but the position and texture of your ponytail speaks volumes. Show you mean business with the super-sleek Gucci version (pictured) or opt for a relaxed take with the low-slung styles shown on the runway for Marc Jacobs.

‘For a professional-looking ponytail, spray L’Oréal Tecni Art Pli [£10.50 for 125ml] on
to damp hair and blow-dry with a paddle brush. Smooth hair back with a Mason Pearson Brush [£24.25, HQ Hair].

'I make my own hairbands by wrapping haberdashery elastic around the base of the ponytail and cutting to the length. Or try Muji Elastic Hair Bands [£1.50 for two] and set with L’Oréal Elnett [£5.28 for 400ml].’
