If you want to ease your daily frizz and keep your tresses sleek and chic, follow Charmian's guide to the best equipment for poker straight and perfect locks...

I'm not usually a high-maintenance beauty editor, apart from when I come back from having my hair cut. You see, my hairdresser always blow-dries my hair super straight, to the point that you wouldn’t know I have curly hair. I then try to keep it that way for as long as possible. (Why? Well, we all like a change now and then.) Unfortunately, that involves sectioning; straightening, brushing and preening every morning, until it either rains or I can’t fight the frizz any longer. Here are my fail-safe straightening tools:
Mark Hill Salon Sexy Straight Shampoo & Conditioner, each £5.49 for 250ml
Trevor Sorbie Straightening Addict Protect, Flatten & Shine Spray, £4.99 for 200ml
The Body Shop Coconut Oil Hair Shine, £4.50 for 50g
GHD original ceramic styling iron, £99
