If you've been simply too busy with your hectic social life to be a domestic goddess, and last night's takeaway is still riding the airwaves, don't panic! These candles will make your home smell wonderful…

My mum still uses a can of air freshener to make her house smell nice. I, on the other hand, have developed the much more expensive habit of burning candles! I love the new Lime Basil and Mandarin Candle, £38, by Jo Malone. It may be on the pricey side, but I reckon you’re better off splashing out on one that’ll fill your whole house with a lovely scent rather than buying loads of cheap candles that don’t give off any smell. I also love this Origins candle and the Crabtree and Evelyn one, too.
