Celeb Grilling - you ask the questions

Getting the Sugababes together in one room isn’t easy. Eventually, one of us manages to pin down Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah in a hotel in London, while another gets Keisha Buchanan on the phone. It’s good to know they’re keen to find time for their favourite mag! Once we get the girls talking, it’s impossible to make them stop – especially Keisha, who’s a mile-a-minute chatterbox. Not at all the moody divas they’ve been made out to be, they’re happy to chat about ex-bandmate Mutya Buena, their bad habits and which one of them has a crush on Cheryl Cole…

Is there any rivalry between you and Girls Aloud?
Natalie Gray, 27, Tunbridge Wells
Keisha We’re both girl groups, so of course there’s rivalry, but it’s good- natured. They’re great girls. I get on best with Kimberley – she lives near me – and I think Cheryl’s beautiful. I’ve a bit of a weird girl crush on her.
Heidi We’re always meaning to have a girls’ night out together.
Amelle Actually I was out with them the other night.

What are the things that annoy you about each other?
Chantel Thorne, 33, Coventry
Keisha Amelle beatboxes all the time. She and Daniel Bedingfield should get together sometime!
Heidi Keisha tells really random stories on a daily basis. I can’t believe that all these dramatic things happen to her!
Amelle Keisha’s life always seems to be some great drama.

Have you ever snogged another celebrity?

Keisha As if I’d tell you! Yes I have, and it was quite a nice snog, but that’s all you’re getting.
Heidi My boyfriend [MTV presenter] Dave Berry , obviously.

Have you ever stolen anything from the set of a TV show that you’ve appeared on?

Keisha Never!
Amelle I once did a children’s show and they gave me a key ring, which I’ve still got. But I’ve never stolen anything.

Are there any songs you wish you’d written?

Keisha Beautiful by Christina Aguilera is such an amazing song. Everyone can relate to it. To an extent, Ugly was our way of saying the same thing.
Amelle For me, it definitely has to be Rihanna’s Umbrella.
Keisha, your cousin is Simon Webbe. Do the pair of you dominate the karaoke at family get-togethers?
Amy Wright, 18, Basildon
Keisha We actually didn’t realise until recently that we were cousins. He’s related to my dad’s family, who live up in Manchester, but now that my dad lives in London I don’t go up there very often. But I’m sure a karaoke-fest would be hilarious.

Who would you like to play you in a Sugababes biopic?
Lucy Allington, 34, Monmouth
Keisha It would have to be Kyla Pratt, who appeared in Doctor Dolittle. We look really similar.Amelle Halle Berry’s stunning and gorgeous – she’d make me look a hell of a lot better than I usually do!

Keisha, does being the longest standing member of the group mean you get to boss everyone around?
Jenny Heart, 21, Hampshire
Keisha Not at all. Sugababes has always been a team effort. I wouldn’t be where I am today without the other girls – past or present. I’ve been a Sugababe since I was 12, so I feel completely passionate about it, but everyone pulls their weight.

What do you do when you want to get away from it all?
Charlie Weeks, 28, Richmond
Keisha I take a lot of holidays. Lots of my close pals live in LA and New York, so I tend to visit them. Or I’ll just go and do something really normal, like go-kart racing at Butlins with my friends. I love being a Sugababe, but I have to have time out to just be Keisha again.
Heidi If I’m tired I like to go home, put on my pyjamas, cook dinner
and chill out in front of the TV.
Amelle I love going on holiday. I’ve just come back from the Algarve and I’d like to get away somewhere else before the end of the year.

Do you still speak to Mutya?

Keisha There’s been a lot of rubbish written about us in the press. I do still talk to her, although I haven’t seen her for a while. Mutya may
have left the group, but it doesn’t change the way I feel about her. She’s like a sister to me and she always will be. We’re family.

What keeps you grounded?
Rebecca Reid, 20, Amersham
Keisha I’ve got really good friends who bring me straight back down
to earth if I’m being a diva.
Amelle We look after one another. We’re all from humble backgrounds, so we don’t take things for granted. We know how lucky we are.

Where do you all see yourselves in 10 years?
Helen Denning, 19, East Kilbride
Keisha Making music, making money and being happy.
Heidi I just hope to be healthy and happy – and maybe married with a baby. I want three kids, but I don’t reckon I’ll have had them all by then.
Amelle I’d still want to be in the music industry. And to be healthy, content and proud of what I’m doing and what I’ve achieved. N

Keisha It would have to be all the chocolate I could eat – Brad Pitt doesn’t do it for me. I prefer David Beckham or Simon Cowell. There’s something sexy about those high-waisted trousers...
Heidi Brad Pitt wouldn’t be bad, but can I have Sean Bean instead?
