Gareth Gates: I’ve had my body waxed for Joseph role

Hairy singer has been in excruciating pain

Gareth Gates has got rid of his chest hair for his latest role.

The singer has just taken over from Lee Mead, 27, in Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in the West End.

But Gareth, 24, has had to endure a lot of pain to prepare for the part.

‘I’m naturally very hairy – like a gorilla – hair right up to the neck,’ he tells the Daily Express. ‘They said for Joseph I had to be completely smooth as in most of the scenes I’m bare-chested.

‘So I’ve had my whole upper body waxed and I’ll get it re-done every week or so. It’s not nice…in fact it’s excruciating.’
