Ricky Gervais rose to fame in The Office

Ricky Gervais is said to be in the running to present the Oscars in February.

Academy Award bosses are thought to have arranged a meeting with the chubby comedian.

They were impressed when he stole the show at last week’s 60th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

Ricky, 47, was seen mocking Steve Carell, 46, as they took part in a joke confrontation.

‘He caught the eye of the right people,’ a source tells The Sun.

‘They think he would be perfect to host the Oscars and want to sign him.’
