Johnny Depp's private island to run on solar power

Actor wants to ensure his home is energy efficient

Johnny Depp does laid back cool
Johnny Depp and his wife Vanessa Paradis are keen to do his bit for the environment

Johnny Depp plans to make his private island home in the Bahamas completely eco-friendly.

The actor and partner Vanessa Paradis, 35, bought the 40-acre getaway for £1.5million.

And now they want to make the isle self-sufficient with the help of some state-of-the-art technology.

Central to their plans is a £250,000 grid-independent solar hydrogen system, which transfers sunlight into electricity.

Johnny, 45, and Vanessa, who have 2 children together, also have homes in France, the UK and LA.
