Kate Middleton wants to assume more 'royal' name

Kate Middleton wants to change her name back to Catherine

Kate Middleton is considering asking people to call her Catherine, because it sounds more formal.

The former fashion buyer was nicknamed Kate by the media when she began dating Prince William in 2004.

But insiders say she thinks Catherine would sound ‘more queenly’ if she were to join the Royal family as William’s fiancée.

‘Everyone knows it’s about to happen with Kate and William, but we were a little surprised about the request to call her Catherine,’ a pal tells the Daily Mail.

‘There’s a distinct feeling that she's started to become aware of her position. Her close family and friends have always called her Catherine and that’s the way she prefers it.’

Wills, 25, sparked rumours he was going to pop the question earlier this week when he whisked Kate, 26, away to a romantic destination in the Caribbean.

The couple are staying at the exclusive Villa Alumbrera on the exclusive island of Mustique.
