Sex And The City star worried her son has things too easy

Sarah Jessica Parker is grateful she grew up in a poor family because it gave her the drive to succeed.

The Sex And The City star, 43, worries her son James, 5, won't develop that same determination.

‘I started working at the age of 8 and I’ve never borrowed a penny from anybody,’ she explains.

‘I think it’s a real privilege to grow up the way I did, and I think my son’s strangely at a disadvantage because he’s a child of affluence and he doesn't know what that means.'

Sarah is married to actor Matthew Broderick, 46, and the couple live in a beautiful Greenwich Village townhouse in New York with their son.

‘I get concerned when a child’s whim is met and it’s hard not to meet those whims when you have the money to do so,' SJ tells You magazine.

'I know this is going to be misinterpreted across the world, but I think there is something good about not having much.'
