She turned 40 last week, so how does Jen manage to look hotter than ever?
Wednesday, 18 February 2009
Jennifer Aniston turned 40 on 11 February but she powered through the dreaded milestone looking fitter and sexier than ever.
A source close to the actress says: ‘What’s really cool is that the beauty changes Jen takes the most seriously are things that don’t really cost money and anyone can try.’
Yoga, cardio and weights
Jen says she once hated exercise, but now does a bit of everything to keep her workouts interesting. Four to five times a week, she does two-hour yoga and Pilates sessions with instructor Mandy Ingber.
Mandy says: ‘Jennifer understands that yoga’s essentially a meeting of the physical and spiritual. She brings a real calmness to each pose.’
Jen also does 30-45 mins on the treadmill or crosstrainer, as well as lifting free weights to tone her shoulders and arms. She prefers to work out at 11pm.
‘Exercising early in the day leaves Jen tired and run-down for the rest of the day, so she does it at night,’ says a source. ‘Then she feels terrific when she wakes up the next day.’
Spa treatments & supplements
To maintain her perfect figure, Jennifer has regular anti-cellulite spa treatments. Her favourite sessions are with physician Sabena Toor, who customises Chinese and Indian herbal teas and supplements to combat bloating and abdominal fat.
Jennifer’s latest body-beautifying essential is a supplement called Pomegranate Power. It’s packed full of antioxidants and claims to work by detoxing the body, reducing cellulite and boosting your metabolic rate. The supplement also claims to rejuvenate the skin from within, eliminating the need for expensive face serums.
Haircare
Jen’s layered, highlighted look is courtesy of stylist Chris McMillan, who’s been cutting her locks since the famous ‘Rachel’ cut. Our sources say: ‘Jen brushes her hair three times a day using a boar-hair brush. She also uses Kérastase Soleil Crème Aqua Resist [£20.40], which prevents sun damage and nourishes hair.’
Skincare rituals
Jen loves to sunbathe, but combats sun damage with treatments from celeb skin guru Kate Somerville, famous for her anti-ageing facials. To keep her lips full, Jen prefers a DIY approach. Our source says: ‘Jen puts half a teaspoon of sugar and a little water on a toothbrush and scrubs her lips with it for about a minute. She does it every day.’
Another morning ritual involves the use of refreezable ice packs. ‘She lays the packs on her eyes for 10 minutes to avoid that “worn-out” look,’ says our source. Jen’s also a fan of Chanel’s ultra-expensive Sublimage Cream, £235, SK-II Eye Cream, £50, and Neutrogena Cleansing Bar, £1.95.
What she eats
Jen’s an enviable 7st 12lb and size 8. She’s a fan of the zone diet, which entails eating healthy food to a ratio of 40 per cent low-starch carbs, 30 per cent fat and 30 per cent protein. Our source says: ‘Jen has a low-carb diet, so she eats a lot of smoked turkey and lettuce wraps.
‘Recently, she’s adjusted her snacking, which used to include corn chips, salsa and guacamole, and now regularly requests fresh fruit – blueberries are a favourite as they have a low sugar content – and cheeses.’
Jen starts every day with a glass of freshly squeezed lemon juice to flush out her body. If she gains a couple of pounds, she’ll replace foods such as pasta with raw vegetables.

"What’s really cool is that the beauty changes Jen takes the most seriously are things that don’t really cost money/" Hmmmm....Last I heard, personal trainers, spa treatments & facials were pretty pricey. About the only thing I can afford on her list is the lemon juice, the icepacks and maybe the blueberries!
