Noel Gallagher has launched a scathing attack on Dannii Minogue, labelling The X Factor judge untalented.
The 41-year-old Oasis frontman – who is currently at No 1 in the album charts with Dig Out Your Soul – slated talent shows and their effect on people who win them.
‘[The show] has absolutely nothing to do with music and everything to do with TV,’ he tells the Radio Times.
‘You’re going in at the top with a No 1 that sells 750,000 and you’ve got someone like Dannii Minogue telling you you’re really talented.
‘If there’s one person in the room who wouldn’t know talent if it kicked them in the arse, it’s Dannii Minogue.’
The X Factor began its live shows on Saturday and pulled in over 11 million viewers, but Noel thinks the programme only has a bad affect on contestants.
'If somebody is dangling this carrot of fame and fortune in front of a checkout girl from Barnsley, then they’re going to go for it,' he says.
'You spend a year slogging around the country and then what? You can't go back to Barnsley and be a checkout girl cos that would look bad.
'It seems to bring on instant mental illness.'
