Christopher Biggins is in talks to replace Des O’Connor on Countdown.

The TV star was approached by Channel 4 bosses two months ago, when it was revealed host Des was leaving.

But Christopher, who regularly appears on the show in the Dictionary Corner, isn’t sure he can commit.

‘I’d love to do it,’ he said on ITV's This Morning.

‘They are talking to me but the problem is they are going to be filming while I’m doing pantomime in Southampton.

'I’m playing Buttons in Cinderella. So there’s a whole process going on.’

Producers are also desperate to find someone to replace Carol Vorderman, who quit earlier this year following a pay cut.

Christopher, 59, was won I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! in 2007.
