Writer and journalist Linda Dearsley loves food, loves wine and especially LOVES chocolate but unfortunately, cooking doesn't come as
easily to her as eating.

A series of kitchen mishaps a while ago
culminated in her great Romantic Dinner Disaster in which Linda attempted to impress her man with a succulent baked sponge pudding.

Discovering too late that she'd run out of flour - a vital ingredient - Linda decided to use custard powder instead, on the grounds that the texture was almost identical and the vanilla flavour would only enhance
the taste of the pudding. Mistake.

On all counts. Several hours later
the candles were puddles of wax on the table, the wine was gone and the
sponge was still in the oven refusing to set and doing an impersonation
of undercooked scrambled egg. Linda was reduced to serving the after
dinner mints for dessert.

Clearly, things had to change, if only for the sake of her love life.That was the beginning of Linda's quest for simple, delicious and absolutely foolproof recipes... the results of which she now shares with readers every week on NOW's Let's Eat page.

P.S. It must work - despite the disaster, Linda's man stuck around and now they're married with a daughter...
