Story will go under the hammer for charity
Thursday, 29 May 2008
JK Rowling has written a short prequel to her Harry Potter books.
The author, 42, penned the 800-word tale as a one off for charity.
The story, which won't be published, ends: ‘From the prequel I am not working on - but that was fun!’
JK was one of 13 authors asked to write a storycard by Waterstone's for its What's Your Story? auction at the Piccadilly store on 10 June.
‘We never dreamed that JK Rowling would donate something so precious, and we're incredibly grateful,’ managing director Gerry Johnson tells the BBC.
Money raised will go to literary charities English PEN and Dyslexia Action.
IPC Media Limited, owner of nowmagazine.co.uk, will collect the address of the recipient solely to process your requests.
