Rubbish presents and snowstorms aside, last Christmas was made all the more memorable by the shock news that Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz were an item - despite the fact they were supposed to be engaged to other people.
Fast-forward six months and the notoriously private couple have surprised everyone again.
Daniel, 43, and Rachel, 41, the knot last week in a New York ceremony so quiet that it would've impressed secret agent James Bond himself.
‘They kept it from everyone,' a friend tells Now.
‘It came as a real shock to a lot of us because neither of them was ever in any hurry to wed with their previous relationships.'
Daniel was engaged to film producer Satsuki Mitchell for five years before calling it off around the same time that Rachel and Darren, who were together for nine years, formally announced their split last November.
Just weeks later, Rachel and Daniel ‘came out' with their romance.
‘We knew it was serious when they allowed themselves to be photographed spending Christmas together at a cottage in Somerset,' says the friend.
‘Dan and Rachel are fiercely private and for them to do that was unprecedented, so we all knew it was the real deal.
'They've known each other for years but when they reconnected on the set of their latest film Dream House in February last year it was like a bonfire had ignited - they're completely besotted.'
