As Martine McCutcheon prepares for the launch of her debut novel The Mistress this November, it'd seem her career isn't the only thing receiving a workout.
In May, Now ran pictures of Martine cutting a decidedly fuller figure while celebrating her 33rd birthday at a showbiz bash.
But since then, those extra inches have been replaced with chiselled cheekbones and a tiny waist. At 5ft 7in and weighing 9st 7lb, the yo-yo dieter is a slim size 10 - and delighted.
‘I've always had to work hard at my weight to stop it from going up and down, but now I've never felt healthier or happier,' Martine exclusively tells Now.
‘It's taken a while, but I've finally grown-up and got my head around the fact that the healthier the food you eat is and the more exercise you do, the lighter you'll be. It really is that simple.'
Since bursting into the spotlight as Tiffany Raymond in EastEnders in 1995, Martine's battled with her weight.
During the past five years she's fluctuated between a size 8 and a size 14. But now, she says, she's finally worked out a winning formula that allows her to stay a healthy size 10 without the need for faddy diets.
‘I eat foods such as fish, chicken, fruit and vegetables while avoiding red meat, dairy and wheat,' she says. ‘Eating lighter makes you lighter. No one can wave a magic wand.'
But above all the other tips Martine has for conquering diet demons, one comes head and shoulders above the rest. ‘Just ditch the scales,' she smiles. ‘It's so much better going by how your clothes fit and how you look. I haven't weighed myself in years.'
