Aerosmith frontman denies stay was drug related

Steve Tyler needed time out to recover from painful surgery

Aerosmith frontman Steve Tyler has set the record straight about his time in rehab last week.

The rocker says he just needed somewhere to chill out following surgery on his foot. He says the damage was caused by his exuberant stage moves.

‘I really needed a safe environment to recuperate, where I could shut off my phone and get back on my feet,’ he said in a statement released yesterday.

‘Make no mistake, Aerosmith have no plans to stop rocking. There’s a new album to record, then another tour.’

Steve, 60 – father of actress Liv Tyler – has admitted to getting involved with drugs in the past, but has been clean for over 20 years.

He is currently dating Erin Brady.
