Whether it’s for a film role or more personal reasons, they certainly know how to change their look and some examples of celebrity weight loss and gains have left us stunned.
Stars often go back and forth with their shape – Renée Zellweger looked slim in 2002 flick Chicago but famously piled on the pounds to play Bridget Jones in 2004, though she soon returned to her svelte figure.
Meanwhile Nicole Richie and Geri Halliwell shocked with their drastic celebrity weight loss but appeared curvier after having children a few years later.
Other celebs including Matthew Perry, Christina Aguilera, Dawn French and Kerry Katona have become known for their weight ups and downs.
For the likes of Kelly Osbourne and Nicola Roberts, growing up in the public eye means everyone’s seen them lose their puppy fat and slim down as women.
Lots of stars have used strict regimes to get fit – EastEnders’ Jessie Wallace brought out her own workout tape after her celebrity weight loss in 2009, whilst Davina McCall and Vicky Pattison have released hugely successful DVDs that got them into shape.
Fern Britton went to drastic measures and had a gastric band fitted in 2006, causing her to look significantly slimmer in 2008.
It’s not just female celebrities who surprise us with their weight changes – famous fellas like Chris Moyles, James Corden and Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens are much trimmer than they once were.
Even sports stars feel the need to shape up sometimes, with Olympic swimmer Rebecca Adlington showing off her slimmed-down figure in 2014.
