Denise Welch has two sons with Tim Healy

Denise Welch has announced on Loose Women that she and husband Tim Healy have broken up after 23 years of marriage.

The Celebrity Big Brother winner wept as she confided that they'd parted ways 'some time ago' - rubbishing rumours she's been having an extramarital affair.

'I just want to say, this is going to be really difficult for me,' said Denise, 53

'My family made a decision that we would talk about this today. Tim and I separated some time ago.

'So I'm not having an affair, we have been living our own lives for some time now.

'I just wanted to thank everybody. Tim and I feel a sense of relief that we don't have to hide this anymore.

'We've actually become better friends since we've made the decision.

'We're all just going to move forward as a family. Tim and I are still going to be co-parents and we love each other very much.'

Denise's revelation comes shortly after it was claimed she'd been cheating on Benidorm actor Tim, 60, with 39-year-old Lincoln Townley.

Reports of the secret relationship surfaced last week but Denise didn't reveal then that she and Tim had split up.

'Everything's fine at home, absolutely fine,' she insisted after she was snapped with Lincoln.

'We had a great day yesterday. It was Tim's birthday.'
