Katy Perry 'watching Downton Abbey' to get over Russell Brand divorce

Katy Perry is reportedly a huge fan of British period drama Downton Abbey.

The US singer, whose husband Russell Brand, 36, announced last month that he's filed for divorce, has apparently been watching the show to try and forget her problems.

'Katy's obsessed with the series and its characters, but it's a way of escaping what's going on between her and Russell,' says a source.

'She really identifies with the romance and the emotional angst and she loves all the costumes.' 

And it seems Katy, 27, is taking inspiration from the programme, which won the prize for Best Drama at last night's National Television Awards.

'She's even basing some of her new stage outfits on Downton,' a source tells the Daily Star.

'She's told her designers to work on them, and on the hairstyles.'
