Coronation Street's Michael Le Vell has spoken out after prosecutors dropped the child sex case against him.
The 47-year-old actor, who plays Kevin Webster, was arrested in October but always strenuously denied accusations he raped a 6-year-old girl.
'I would like to give thanks to Greater Manchester Police for the fair, thorough and independent investigation they conducted,' says Michael.
'I have maintained my innocence throughout and I am delighted to be completely exonerated by the decision that there will be no further action taken in this matter.'
Michael also showed his appreciation to his fans and co-stars.
'I would like to thank the public sincerely for their loyal support during what has been a most difficult and upsetting phase in my life,' he said from a secret location abroad.
'I also want to give special thanks to my colleagues on Coronation Street, ITV Studios and ITV for their unwavering support of me.
'It is now my intention to continue working and hope to put this extremely difficult period behind me.'
