Will Young has been dropped at the last minute from the panel of new TV talent show The Voice - in favour of The Script's Danny O'Donoghue.
The 2002 Pop Idol winner was expected to join Jessie J, Will.i.am and Tom Jones as a coach on the singing contest, but last night told his Twitter followers he had been ditched.
‘Words escape me. Life is sometimes a bitch,' Tweeted Will, 32.
‘The voice came, the voice went. They wanted to go more rock....
‘Should have dusted off my Leather jacket! Hey ho.
‘Going out tonight with an appetite for destruction - guns and roses?'
Irish crooner Danny, 31, has worked as a record producer in the US, and it is thought that BBC bosses are keen to turn him into a household name.
‘Danny might not be a big name but is good-looking and gives good chat,' an insider reveals.
‘We wanted someone we could grow into our own star.'
The show - which sees celebrity coaches guide new singers to stardom - starts next year and is considered to be a rival to the likes of The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.
