The X Factor failed to pull in more viewers than Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday night.
While Simon Cowell's ITV show averaged 9.6m viewers, the BBC programme attracted an average of 10.2m people.
Strictly has beaten The X Factor for the past 2 weekends when the two shows have overlapped by 10 or 15 minutes - but this is the first time this year that the celebrity dancing programme has won on overall average viewers.
On the same Saturday last year, The X Factor pulled in an average audience of 12.2m, while its competitor lagged behind with 10.4m.
The ITV programme's been dogged with controversy this series, with some fans upset with the new judging line-up.
